Marie Stockdale and Paul Kipling were expecting twins when they received devastating news – one of their precious baby girls had serious developmental concerns.
The doctors were insistent Marie abort baby Ava – but she refused, believing every baby deserved the chance at life.
And by God’s grace, both twins survived the birth and are doing well – and Marie’s story of fighting for Ava’s life is sure to bring tears to your eyes.
To start – one can’t imagine the fear parents face when doctors give them scary prenatal diagnosis – making them believe if they don’t abort their baby right now – the baby will either die – or live a horrible life.
Many pregnant moms are scared – and give in to the pressure because they are trained to “trust the doctor.”
But thankfully – there are other parents like Marie and Paul who refuse to even entertain the idea of abortion.
Not to mention – doctors can oftentimes get it wrong – and babies who were said to have certain physical or intellectual disabilities are born perfectly healthy – or with minor physical challenges.
So when Marie was 20 weeks pregnant and learned that baby Ava had an abnormality with her esophagus not being attached correctly – in addition to a brain condition that could cause cerebral palsy – the doctors suggested she abort Ava.
But Marie refused, and was determined to give Ava a chance at life.
Derbyshire Live reported:
“Because the condition is so rare, doctors had no idea how severely it would affect her, and I was offered a termination,” Marie said. “It was never an option though, I had to give her a chance to fight.”
Doctors were stunned – but Marie gave birth to twin girls – Mia and Ava.
While Ava has had a series of medical challenges since her birth and is still fed through a tube – Marie reports she is a happy little girl!
The twin girls are a little over 8 months old – and both are thriving.
Derbyshire Live continued:
“Ava is currently being tube fed as she has no sucking reflex and has regular physiotherapy to help her with head control and general movement, but her surgeons are pleased with her progress.
“They’re both little characters, Mila is very chilled out and patient and Ava is really happy and smiley,” said her mum.”
Praise the Lord for these beautiful baby girls!
Every baby was created by God – and deserves the right to be born.
While some doctors still insist mothers should abort their babies if they have a physical disability – thankfully there are moms who still choose life.
We wish Marie, baby Ava, and their entire family the Lord’s protection over their lives and praise Him for his graciousness in allowing Ava to defeat the odds.
