When a 22-year-old drug addict found out he was going to be a father, he was instructed by everyone around him to abort his unborn son.
After all, how could an addict who could barely care for himself possibly raise a baby?
Thankfully, the mother held the line and refused to abort their baby. Now the father, clean and sober, is sharing his amazing transformation with the world.
The father shared a sweet photo on Twitter of his son sending him a goodnight text message, complete with an “I love you.”
Naturally touched by his son’s words, the dad tweeted:
“When I found out I was having a kid I was 22, addicted to drugs, in and out of rehab with no place to live. Everyone said we should get an abortion. I’m really glad I didn’t listen.”
The dad went on to share how much his son changed his life, and while he ended up entering rehab one last time shortly after his son was born – it was his last time.
Often times, it takes a major life event to bring a man to the crossroads of life.
Some buckle at the pressure and fall further into drugs and alcohol.
Others are amazed they’ve been given a second chance (and in this case, a new life) and seize the opportunity.
Determined to be the best father possible, he even saved up enough money to take his son to Disney World.
Apparently, his bold tweets sharing the vulnerability of his former ways and how he’s now changed inspired a storm of responses.
Other former addicts shared their own stories of their personal recoveries.
Live Action reported:
“Candice was in a similar situation when she was 25, divorced, and struggling with addiction. She had lost custody of her three children when she learned she was pregnant. Her boyfriend pressured her to have an abortion, but she refused. When her baby was born and put into foster care, she said, “That was the last day I chose drugs.”
“I went to rehab & accepted Christ into my life,” she said. “I made very parent visit, did every class, passed every drug test & worked my butt off to reunify just eight months later.” Within two years, she and her husband were back together and she had regained custody of her other three children as well.”
While addiction keeps people stuck in bondage and trapped in darkness, there’s true healing in the light.
Jesus Christ has the power to transform every person who puts their faith in Him and He makes all things new.
Praise God for preserving the life of these unborn babies – and for raising up their parents to wonderfully care for their children.
