With Christmas just around the corner, many families are looking for fun activities to do, without breaking the bank.
We get it, Christmas can be an expensive time for many families, but rest assured, there are many activities you can do to celebrate the holly jolly festivities which are affordable for every family!
So if you’re looking for creative (yet classic) ways to celebrate the final days before Christmas, check out these family favorites!
1. Bring On The Lights:
One of the most beautiful parts about Christmas is all of the bright lights!
From neighborhood stores to Christmas displays, the streets are lined with bright lights and sparkle.
Consider spending a night driving through neighborhoods that have extra Christmas décor.
We all know that “one house” that always has the full display – complete with Christmas music and a dancing snowman.
Or, check out your local park or zoo – many places have displays that are either free or reasonably priced for families to enjoy.
2. Christmas Movie Marathon:
Alright, we know – sometimes the best part of Christmas is taking a break and having a relaxing night in!
And the best part is – there are movies galore at Christmas!
From A Christmas Story to A Charlie Brown Christmas, your family can have a fun night curled up on the couch in comfy pajamas watching movies.
You can even make homemade hot cocoa or bake cookies as an added treat!
3. Caroling:
Ok, so maybe you can’t sing, but at Christmastime, every song sounds beautiful!
Consider getting together and singing to your neighbors, or even at a senior citizen home visiting those who are lonely.
If singing really isn’t your thing, another bonus is to check out all the Christmas concerts taking place in the area.
Many schools and churches have concerts, so you can take your family and sing along (or in your head) to the sweet Christmas tunes.
4. Homemade Decorations:
By now, you’ve probably got all of your Christmas decorations up.
But it’s Christmastime, so what’s a few more!
You can have an ornament making party with your children, and get creative.
From painting a clear ball and filling it with beads and sparkles to cutting out glitter foam, you can make fun and personalized ornaments.
No room for anything else?
Consider making gifts for Grandma and Auntie!
The Christmas season is always a beautiful time to reconnect with family and prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It’s easy to get caught up in the materialism of gift-giving, and the stress of trying to “do it all”, so make sure to savor the sweet moments and make new memories.
Take a weekend off, or even a day and try one of the activities we’ve listed above.
And remember to have fun while doing it, and relish in the joy of Christmastime!
