Imagine the scene – your next trip is booked and you can’t wait to spend lazy days sleeping on the beach under the warm summer sun.
You’ve even made sure your sunscreen is less than 3.3oz to avoid TSA thugs confiscating your stuff.
But then you land at your destination and realize that the leftist bureaucrats have now banned certain sunscreens – prohibiting you from using them.
Yep – they’re at it again.
Leftists just love to push regulations and control what you’re allowed to use.
Like when they had the genius idea to ban individual toiletries in hotels in the name of “saving the environment.”
Yeah, how did that work out telling hotel guests they must use communal shampoos during COVID-19?
What a waste.
And now they’re at it again – telling beachgoers what type of sunscreen they can have in their beach bag.
Not surprising, Hawaii was the first state in the U.S. to pass an official ban on the sale of sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate…
… and they even have pending legislation trying to outlaw even more ingredients, reports Condé Nast Traveler.
But other places have taken it further by not only banning the sale of certain sunscreens – but banning the actual use of them by travelers.
In fact, the U.S. Virgin Islands has barred the use of sunscreens containing oxybenzone, octocrylene, and octinoxate.
Condé Nast Traveler reported:
“The island chain does not permit the sale or use of sunscreens containing any of those three ingredients.
Its strict stance might have something to do with the fact that the island chain was one subject in a years-long study into the effects of chemical sunscreens on reefs, in which seawater taken from the popular Trunk Bay swimming spot in Virgin Islands National Park was found to have some of the highest concentrations of oxybenzone in the study.”
Ridiculous.
And how are they going to actually enforce this?
Send out “volunteers” to patrol the beach and read people’s sunscreen labels?
Give me a break!
And yes, we get it. Not everything is good for the environment.
But anyone can do a study and find “harmful” ingredients floating around our world – this shouldn’t translate into banning what people consume.
Liberals claim aerosol is dangerous for the environment, should hairspray cans be banned?
Others harp on the damage of gasoline – does this mean everyone can only drive electric cars?
Planes use fuel – should travelers stop flying?
Well, actually, some environmental “activists” think so.
The ban on sunscreen is just another attempt for out-of-control bureaucrats to thrust around their power and try to control the masses.
Thankfully, some conservative politicians are standing up to the madness and not allowing these ridiculous bans to stand.
When Key West, Florida passed legislation to outlaw certain sunscreens, Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill prohibiting these sunscreens from being banned.
After all, skin cancer is on the rise – yet instead of encouraging Americans to protect their skin from the sun – liberals are more concerned about the coral reefs.
Here’s the thing.
If people want to “save the planet” by using different products then, by all means, let them use those soggy paper straws to drink their tea and let them buy the eco-friendly (and expensive) sunscreen — but leave the rest of us alone!
