Before there was the pandemic, the world of travel was wide open and no sea, sky, or stretch of highway could stop the ambitious traveler.
Then everything changed when the government implemented their tyrannical COVID-19 rules on all society.
Thankfully, when those in our current administration realized they couldn’t just revoke our freedoms through fear and isolation, the world became open to opportunity and adventure once again – especially among the high seas.
Travel and Leisure reports:
“Several major cruise lines have dropped COVID-19-related testing protocols ahead of the holiday season, returning to what it was like before the pandemic swept the world.”
The holiday season can bring on many different emotions for people.
Not only do those in colder states risk suffering from the winter blues, but the stress of where to travel, who to buy for, and how to prepare sleeping arrangements for 23 relatives coming to your home – it can be so much more than one cares to think about.
Heading south for the winter is no new concept and cruise enthusiasts would say that doing it by way of sea is the only way it should be done.
And now that Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, and Virgin Voyages are finally doing away with their COVID-19 rules and restrictions, many travelers can do just that.
Norwegian Cruise Line paved the way by being the first cruise line to eliminate testing, masks, and vaccine requirements entirely.
Disney has followed suit, publicly announcing they’re dropping their requirement for passengers to be tested for COVID-19 – regardless of vaccination status.
However, adult-only line Virgin Voyages announced they’ll be keeping “in line with the rest of the travel industry,” like the Royal Caribbean – which has not been brave enough to eliminate their COVID-10 testing requirements before boarding their ships.
Of course, you are exempt from testing if you’ve followed all the government guidelines on vaccinations like a good citizen.
But don’t think your children will get a pass because, at least for now, Royal Caribbean is requiring children 5 and over who are not vaccinated to be tested before boarding reports Travel and Leisure.
Still, freedom-loving travelers will be pleased to know there are more cruise lines dropping the pandemic requirements than aren’t, including MSC Cruises and Carnival.
This is all just in time for winter travel!
Even if an all-inclusive cruise isn’t your thing with the seasickness and tight sleeping arrangements – just knowing you have the choice to travel again is nice!
