If you thought “Big Brother” followed you around before – you haven’t seen anything yet!
Delta Airlines recently partnered with Misapplied Sciences to launch their new PARALLEL REALITY™ experience – and you won’t believe what it does.
From showing your personal name, flight time, and SkyMiles elite status across the big screen – to even recognizing your face – here’s how this creepy new program works.
After travelers pass through security, they have the option to “opt-in” to the parallel reality experience – and either scan their boarding pass or use facial recognition through the Fly Delta app.
Once travelers opt-in, they can see all of their personal information displayed on a big screen – from their name, boarding gate, and even their departure time.
One Mile At A Time reported:
“Delta has introduced parallel reality technology at Detroit Airport, in the form of a large digital screen that allows up to 100 people to each see information that’s customized to them.
Customers who opt in to using digital identity at check-in can access the parallel reality exhibit via facial recognition, by going up to the exhibit and looking at a camera. Meanwhile other passengers can access this by scanning their boarding pass.
The screen then displays customized information to each person, as it shows different things depending on the angle at which you look at it. The screen displays a person’s name, SkyMiles elite status, departure gate, flight number, and flight time.”
Wild!
And creepy.
For now, this new technology is only being tested at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, but Delta hopes to expand it across the nation.
And if the thought of facial recognition creeps you out – Delta claims this invasive feature is “optional.”
Given the way Big Brother wants control – it’s only a matter of time before this becomes the new norm.
And while Delta boasts about their new technology – travelers all around the world are still forced to deal with airline chaos – with missed flights and canceled trips.
It would be wonderful if airlines focused on staffing flights – instead of trying to entice passengers to “opt in” to creepy futuristic technology.
When I fly Delta – I have the app – I can already check my own gate and departure time.
I also know how to read the airport screen which lists my flight information… I don’t need my personal name and flight information broadcasted on a big screen – even if I am the “only one” who can allegedly see it.
Big Tech and Big Brother are at it again – meanwhile airports and airlines can’t even get their passengers to their destination on time.
Some things never change.
