Caroline loved going to church on Sundays and writing out Scripture as her Pastor preached.
To her father’s amazement – not only was she “taking notes” – but she was writing down every single word of the Bible – as the Pastor preached an expository style.
Caroline’s father challenged his daughter to keep writing Scripture as the pastor preached – and, further, to write the entire Bible by hand.
Caroline accepted; now, nine years later, she has copied every single verse in the Bible, word for word, hoping to encourage others to memorize Scripture – and just wait until you hear her story.
Caroline was born with Down Syndrome – leading many, including her parents, to mistakenly believe that somehow her life would be “less than.”
Her parents, Kenny and Jennifer, were concerned when they learned Caroline had Down Syndrome, wondering if and how her life might be limited.
They loved her and raised her as any other child – and they have been completely blown away by all that God has done in her life.
Her love for Scripture and desire to memorize it is truly a gift from God.
According to Jennifer, Caroline’s work of copying the Bible by hand has filled more than 10,000 pages… spanning 43 binders!
This incredible task has produced precious outcomes for God’s glory.
Caroline’s pure heart and love for Jesus has inspired people all around the world to take on the same challenge.
Christianity Today reported:
“Since her handwritten Bible has received some attention in the media, Caroline is happy to hear she’s inspired others to love the Scripture as she does. She recently received a letter from a seminary student on the West Coast who told her he is going to start writing out the Bible by hand too.
Kenny and Jennifer also hope it will encourage families and churches to be more open to people with disabilities.
“So many times, people focus on the negative and not the positive,” Kenny said. “They don’t realize God has given them a gift.”

The real and personal way God connects with each of His children is beautiful.
For those of us who struggle to memorize Scripture – Caroline’s example should serve as a convicting reminder we can learn Scripture through a willingness to try and a love for God – joined by persistence.

Consider starting each morning by writing out a Bible verse for the day; then take time to meditate on it and memorize it.
If a daily verse seems overwhelming – try a “weekly Bible verse challenge.” You can begin each week with copying a verse, memorizing it, and meditating on it throughout the week.
Noting where you see the verse’s message/lesson appear in your life, will help your Spiritual walk as you meditate on God’s Word.
