Each year, thousands of young people attempt suicide — and sadly many of them succeed.
As Christians, we know that these attempts are the result of suffering and sin.
But a new study reveals an astonishing link between youth suicide and one sin in particular.
Underage sexual behavior.
Young people all over the world, but especially in the United States, are being pushed to engage in risky sexual acts at a young age.
School administrators and pop culture icons alike are advocating for the acceptance and practice of “sexual rights” no matter the cost.
In fact, public school classrooms frequently teach children and young people how to perform corrupt sexual acts.
And this massive propaganda movement is starting to bear devastating fruit in our culture.
A recent academic study examined the connection between underage sexual behavior and suicide attempts in young people all over the world.
Psychiatric researchers collected data in 38 countries, studying the behavior of over 116,000 12- to 15-year-old students.
The researchers asked these students, some of whom should be barely old enough to understand sex, about their sexual behaviors—and the answers were shocking.
According to the data, over 13% of these children had already experienced sexual intercourse.
Some of them had already had multiple sexual partners as well.
You read that right: children as young as 12 were already partnering with multiple people, damaging their tender minds and skewing their views on commitment and sex forever.
This is grievous news to those of us who understand how dangerous this behavior is!
And the study’s results show that this promiscuity has already had catastrophic effects.
“A positive association between sexual intercourse and suicide attempts was found in 32 of the 38 countries,” wrote the researchers.
“Having had multiple sexual partners was associated with increased odds of suicide attempts,” they continued.
In other words, encouraging children to cross sexual boundaries and behave promiscuously is literally killing them!
“Engaging in sexual intercourse was associated with increased risk of suicide attempt,” the study’s results confirmed.
“Moreover, having had multiple sexual partners may also increase the risk of suicide attempts.”
If we couple these facts with the statistics about successful suicide attempts, we can understand the cost of the liberal sexual agenda.
Other researchers have commented on this topic, clarifying exactly how sexual behavior contributes to suicidal ideation and actions.
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative thinktank in Washington, D.C., noted, “When compared to teens who are not sexually active, teenage boys and girls who are sexually active are…less likely to be happy and more likely to feel depressed.”
There is a direct connection between sexual permissiveness and deep unhappiness.
Dr. Meg Meeker, an adolescent medical specialist, agreed with the Heritage Foundation and further explained this connection.
“Teenage sexual activity routinely leads to emotional turmoil and psychological distress,” Dr. Meeker said.
“[Sexual permissiveness leads] to empty relationship, to feelings of self-contempt and worthlessness. All, of course, precursors to depression.”
Children and young teens aren’t meant to take on the weight of sexual activity so soon in life, and young people frequently express regret over underage sexual behaviors, according to the Heritage Foundation.
“The majority of sexually active teens express reservations and concerns about their personal sexual activity,” the Foundation reported.
“Those who regretted early sexual activity outnumbered those without such concerns by nearly two to one.”
It’s a vicious cycle: schools and cultural figures pressure children into engaging in promiscuous acts, but these acts destroy their self-esteem and hope.
What’s marketed as “freedom” ultimately becomes destruction, and even death.
When the research is this clear, it’s time to stop allowing society to guide teenagers’ behavior.
It’s time to step up as parents and protect our children by showing them the right way to act toward themselves and others.
“Teens should be told that sexual activity in teen years is clearly linked to reduced personal happiness,” the Heritage Foundation wrote.
The Foundation also recommended a clear alternative to current sex-ed programs, which teach kids about sexual behavior in graphic detail.
“Abstinence education programs are uniquely suited to meeting both the emotional and the physical needs of America’s youth,” urged the Foundation.
“Teen abstinence is an important step leading toward [successful adult relationships].”
As parents, it’s critical to advocate for abstinence education programs to protect our children from these evil influences!
As the research shows, these programs will literally save their lives.
Please pray for the protection of our young people and be ready to step up wherever you can!
