Christmas is a time of magic and wonder.
For many of us, we grew up watching those classic Christmas movies with our families every year.
But what if you could visit the real places from these films and create a little Christmas magic of your own?
Here are 5 classic Christmas movie locations you can actually visit!
1. Miracle on 34th Street
Miracle on 34th Street is one of the all-time Christmas movie classics with the original filmed in 1947 and a remake in 1994.
The film takes place in New York City and you can visit many of the famous locations from the film.
New York City is especially wonderous this time of year with the lights and sounds of Christmas everywhere.
There’s really no place like it for the holidays!
The Macy’s used in the film is located at 151 West 34th Street in Manhattan, now known as Macy’s Herald Square.
Pop in to see all the Christmas decorations and even visit Santa himself!
2. A Christmas Story
A Christmas Story is another beloved Christmas classic. This movie is likely one of the most quoted holiday movies.
This Christmas, take a trip to A Christmas Story House, now a museum located in Cleveland, Ohio!
The museum is the very house used in the film (well the exterior, at least)!
The house has been fully restored and is open year-round for tours. You can even stay overnight, as it now doubles as a Bed & Breakfast!
Visitors can even leave with their very own leg lamp!
3. Elf
Elf has quickly become a holiday favorite.
Set in New York City, the movie follows an elf who learns he is a human and sets out to find his birth family.
It’s a heartwarming movie about family and the spirit of Christmas.
Locations from this movie include Gimbles department store, Central Park, and the Empire State Building.
The building used for the exterior of Gamble’s (a stand-in for Macy’s) is located at 295 5th Avenue and East 30th Street in Manhattan.
Take a climb to the top of the Empire State Building and take in the city’s lights.
The city is especially breathtaking during the holidays. Take a peaceful walk away from the hustle and bustle of the city in Central Park.
Maybe you’ll even run into Santa!
4. Home Alone 2
It seems like New York City is the place to be at Christmas and Home Alone 2 is another holiday classic to take place in the city.
When Kevin McAlister is separated from his family once again, he visits many spots in the city before finally being reunited with his parents.
Follow Kevin’s journey by visiting the same locations!
Take a trip to Radio City Music Hall, a popular Christmas destination. Here, the famous Christmas Spectacular featuring The Rockettes is held!
The Statue of Liberty is another famous landmark used in this film. Take a ferry out and see the statue up close!
Times Square, Carnegie Hall, and Rockefeller Center are just a few of the other famous locations in this great family film.
5. Love Actually
Although there is some debate about whether Love Actually is a classic Christmas movie or not, it’s still a popular film during this holiday season.
The majority of the film’s locations are in London, England and Heathrow Airport, located just outside London. The film begins and ends at Heathrow.
Whiteley’s in Bayswater is another location and perhaps one of the most recognizable. There are several boutiques inside and it’s always decorated beautifully for Christmas.
While you can’t visit the North Pole, there are many magical places you can visit during the Christmas season.
From New York City to London, recreate your favorite holiday film in the same location they took place.
